India's Rafale or China's J-20, whose capacity is more?

Online desk

Indo-China tensions continue to rise. Troops from both countries are on high alert after clashes with Chinese troops on the Ladakh border. One meeting after another is going on to remove the troops from the border. The two countries have clashed over border disputes many times before. Because China has a border with India in an area of about 4,038 kilometers.

Meanwhile, after the arrival of the Rafale, the Indian Air Force has come a long way, surpassing China in air warfare technology. According to experts, the fourth generation multirole combat aircraft JF-17 Thunder, built by Chengdu Aircraft Industries Group of China, is far ahead of the fifth generation stealth air superiority fighter J-20.

In addition to China, Pakistan, Myanmar and Nigeria use the JF-17 Thunder. However, China has not yet sold its most advanced J-20 fighter jet to any other country. However, China has given Pakistan the latest version of JF-17 'Block-3'.
In the post-Ladakh situation, defense experts believe that India should be prepared to fight on two fronts simultaneously (China and Pakistan). With 36 raffles in hand, India will be able to face China and Pakistan together at least in space. And that's where the possibility of Rafale's success in air warfare against JF-17s and J-20s comes up. In addition to air warfare, various issues related to the destruction of military targets on the ground, surveillance, retaliation, the ability to destroy air defenses, attacks on warships, the use of nuclear weapons are being discussed.

Although China claims that its J-20 is a "complete stealth" (radar surveillance capability), most US and European experts are skeptical. According to them, the Chinese aircraft is a 'partial stealth'. In fact, the radar of the Indian Air Force's Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet has detected the movement of the J-20 on the border several times. In other technical aspects too, they like that the J-20 lags behind the 4.5 generation Rafale.

Rafale and JF-16 can have one or two seats. According to the agreement, India will receive 27 one-seat and six two-seat raffles (mainly for training use) from France. However, the J-20 has only one engine.

The Snakema M-7 turbofan used in the twin-engine Rafale is much more powerful than the J-20. In this case, the light JF-16 with one engine is not comparable to the Rafale.

The J-20 is the heaviest of the three aircraft. Empty weight 19 thousand kilograms. The 'take off weight', including fuel and weapons, is a little over 36,000 kilograms. The weight of different models of Rafale is less than 10 thousand kilograms. Take off weight about 24,500 kilograms. Much lighter than the JF-16. Weighs about 12,000 kilograms, including fuel and weapons. Half of it empty.

The length of the J-20 is much longer than the 15.3-meter raffle, about 20.5 meters. The wingspan of the raffle is 10.9 m. J-20 is less than 13. But the delta-wing configuration of the fancy close-coupled Canard that French manufacturer Dassault Aviation has created on their aircraft is particularly effective in aerial warfare. Raffle skills are much higher in high-angle attack.

J-20, however, is a little ahead in the battle of speed. China's state-of-the-art warplanes can fly at speeds of up to 2.0 Mach (2,400 kilometers) per hour. The maximum speed of the raffle is 2222.8 kilometers per hour. In this case, the maximum speed of JF-16, which is in the third place, is 1985.8 km. According to GlobalSecurity.org, the Dogfight Rafale can reach 50,000 feet. The JF-17 can rise to an altitude of about 54,000 feet and the J-20 to an altitude of more than 75,000 feet. However, the raffle can rise at a speed of 60 thousand feet per minute. J-20 at 49,742 feet and JF-17 at 59,000 feet. Although the difference may seem small, it can become 'decisive' in the blink of an eye during an air war.

The French warplane has a range of 3,600 km. The J-20 and JF-17 have 2,038 and 2,000 km, respectively.

Rafal is also ahead of the opponent in arms. The ‘Mica’ air-to-air missile, capable of striking out of sight (Beyond Visual Range), is unique in air defense and attack. Four times faster than sound, guided missiles with a range of more than 100 kilometers can play the role of 'game changer' in Matthew's aerial warfare. China's state-run media has claimed that China has installed new PL-15 air-to-air missiles with a range of about 300 km in some J-20s. Pakistan has already approached China for the JF-17 missile.

The long-range surface-to-air missile used in the Rafale and the comparable weapons of the AM-39 Exoset anti-ship missiles are not in the arsenal of two Chinese-made combat jets. Like the J-20 and JF-17, the AutoCannon is equipped with a raffle. There are also 900 kg guided bombs to blow up enemy bunkers. The Indian Air Force has also decided to install a state-of-the-art surface-to-air missile 'Hammer' at Rafale. Even in adverse weather like Ladakh, this missile does not lose its effectiveness at all. This ‘hammer’ weighing 330 kilograms can hit multiple targets simultaneously within a range of 60 to 15 kilometers!

The Rafale and J-20's advanced infrared detection and tracking systems and cross-section radar are particularly adept at detecting enemy aircraft. The technology of JF-16 is a bit old. Not all Pakistan Air Force JF-17 helmets are on display.
